Virgin Islanders United, Inc. is a New York based, non-profit, non-partisan, civic organization dedicated to the interests, and people of the United States Virgin Islands. The organization was founded to preserve and promote the culturally rich heritage of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization is a source of information and representation that is easily accessible to the media and the general public to provide an authentic Virgin Islands perspective on issues, which are pertinent to the U.S.V.I. Additionally, V.I.U. serves as a base for year-round activities, events, and forums, both civic and social in nature, designed to foster fellowship and create strong bonds between Virgin Islanders, other Caribbean nationals, and all people. Membership in this organization is open to all.
Yardbird Program: a mentoring program, providing “big brothers”, and “big sisters” to Virgin Islands students who are recent arrivals to the tri-state area.
V.I.U. Town Hall Meeting: A networking forum that enables community residents, business owners, and local leaders, as well as elected officials, and leaders from the Islands, to address the Virgin Islands & Caribbean community within the tri-state area.
V.I.U. Hurricane Assistance Program: Provides assistance to the Virgin Islands in the event of a Hurricane. Aid includes medical supplies, drinking water, food, blankets, toiletries, and clothing.
In addition to the positive year round work that the organization accomplishes through its civic activities, V.I.U. is also the source for a plethora of events, more social in nature, which help to bring Virgin Islanders & all people together.
